"BROOM HANDLE" Field Stripping

MPA1.gif (3396 bytes) With point of a bullet, press up magazine plunger (9) and slide floorplate (29) forward. Remove follower (28) and spring (27). Then cock hammer. Press up lock frame stop (20) as shown. Pull barrel extension assembly (1) off rear of receiver (23).
MPA2.gif (3169 bytes) After barrel extension assembly is free of frame, pull down on rear of lock mechanism frame, (19) to free it from barrel extension. Remove locking block (14). Handle lock work carefully to prevent frame stop (20) and sear (16) dropping out of place.
MPA3.gif (2159 bytes) To remove firing pin (6), use a small screwdriver to push in firing pin as far as it will go and give it a 1/4 turn clockwise. Remove pin and push bolt stop (4) forward and out to right. Recoil spring (7) can now be removed.
MPA4.gif (3233 bytes) To remove trigger (10) and magazine plunger (9), trigger spring (8)  must be removed first. To do this, use a tool with a small hook to lift spring free of plunger (9). At same time, push it toward butt until free.
MPA5.gif (2624 bytes) Care must be take when removing rocker coupling (22) since it is under heavy spring tension,. First lower hammer. Hold lock mechanism in a vise and press down on plunger (11). At same time push rocker coupling (22) through as shown.
MPA6.gif (3702 bytes) To reassemble gun, install bolt (3)  and firing pin, etc. Turn barrel extension upside down and drop locking block (14) over its projection. Cock hammer and press down on forward end of lock mechanism until the tail of locking block (14) snaps into rocker coupling (22).
 
 
 
Early Model Bolt/Barrel Take Down    
(FLAT SURFACE FIRING PIN) 
Step1 
Remove Locking Block from barrel (rotate downward) 
Step2 
Remove firing pin by pushing firing pin foreward sufficiently to allow the firing pin retainer to move upward (alot of force required) and out of the bolt. Then extract the firing pin and firing pin spring. 
Step3 
Remove the Bolt stop and then remove the bolt from the barrel. Remove the Bolt Recoil spring from the bolt THRU THE FINING PIN HOLE other wise you may damage the recoil spring.  
 
Step4 
To remove the extractor from the bolt the extractor must be lifted and pulled foreward toward the bolt face.  
 
Reassembly 
It is accomplished in reverse order taking note that on the reinstallation of the recoil spring that it is inward suffiently so that when the bolt is reinstalled in the barrel the bolt stop can be reinserted.  
 
 
 
Late Model Bolt/Barrel Take Down   
(SLOTTED FIRING PIN) 
Step1
 Same as Early Model
Step2
Remove firing pin by pushing firing pin foreward and turning clockwise with a take down tool or slotted screwdriver. Then extract the firing pin and firing pin spring.

Reassembly

Lock Frame Take Down
Step1 
  
  
Remove safety leaver.
Remove lock frame stop.
Remove sear leaver. 
 
Step2
While holding pressure on the hammer in the cocked position rotate the sear arm upwards and relive pressure on the hammer. Remove the sear arm. 
Step3
Push the rocker plunger inwards toward the hammer until the rocker coupling falls out. Remove the rocker plunger,main spring and main spring plunger. 
Step4
Remove the sear spring/hammer pivot and remove the hammer. 
Reassembly
  
It is accomplished in reverse order. 
 
 
 
Early Model Trigger Removal
 
 
 
Late Model Trigger Removal
Using a small hook type pick lift the trigger spring clear of the magazine floor plate release while pulling the trigger spring rearward out of the frame. Remove trigger and magazine floorplate release. Reassembly is accomplished in reverse order. 
 
 
 
 
 
Rear Sight Takedown 
NOTE: These steps only apply to the adjustable rear site 
Step1 
Take a piece of 3/8" wooden dowel or the eraser end of a pencil (so as not to marr the finish on the sight) and depress the site downward between the site pivot ears with one hand while pulling rearward on the site with the other hand. 
Step2 
Slide rear site spring out of rear site. Remove elevation block,catch and spring once this is clear of the site it will fall apart. 
Reassembly 
Simply reverse the order.
